Link Community Development
Link Community Development - set up in 1989, is a partnership of four non-government organisations working in Ghana, Uganda, South Africa and the UK. LCD believes that education is a basic human right. A right that is still being denied to many children and their communities.
• All children need good teachers: LCD helps teachers develop effective techniques and share their skills
• All children need good schools: LCD helps head teachers manage and develop their schools and decide which of their needs are critical
• All children need parental support: LCD helps schools to involve parents and the community in school life
• All children need wider horizons: LCD forms partnerships between UK and African schools helping children to learn directly from each other and promoting understanding between cultures
• All children need to be safe and healthy: With assistance from LCD, schools are creating policies and action plans to tackle the many problems surrounding HIV and AIDS
• All children need improvements that last: To build a secure future for entire communities, all schools need long-lasting improvements
